Healthy, Delicious Nanaimo Bars

Healthy, Delicious Nanaimo Bars

Nuts, fruit, syrup—it’s a combination that is sure to get your tastebuds tingling and one that combines to create some of the best desserts in the world.

The only thing that could improve on that terrific trio is a little chocolate, and that’s exactly what this recipe uses. Our Nanaimo Bars, created by Nutriholist, contain heaps of Detox Organics superfood powder in combination with healthy nuts, dates, oats and more, creating a dessert that will blow your mind without tipping your scales.

What’s more, these delicious bars can be kept in the fridge for several days after cooking, making for a great mid-morning or late-afternoon snack, and they only take a few minutes to make!

It doesn’t get much better than that.

Ingredients

Base:

  • 1 cup raw walnuts
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup dates (4 small)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut milk
  • 1 scoop Detox Organics (get yours here)
  • A pinch of sea salt

Custard

  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons coconut flour
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Ganache

  • 2 scoops Detox Organics
  • 4 tablespoons raw cacao powder
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • Pinch of sea salt

Directions

For the Base: Add all ingredients to a food processor and process until it forms a strong, pliable dough. Line a baking dish with parchment paper and press the dough into the bottom. When you’ve finished, place the dish in the freezer while you prepare the custard.

For the Custard: Wipe down the food processor and add the custard ingredients. Process until smooth. Pour over your base and place back in the freezer to set (should only take 1 to 2 hours).

For the Chocolate Ganache: Add all ingredients to a small bowl and whisk until there are no clumps. Pour over your custard layer and place in the fridge for 5 to 10 minutes to allow it to firm-up. Slice into bars and enjoy!
